This essay predicts some of the effects that self-driving cars will have on our society. It’s more than taxi drivers losing jobs. Self-driving cars have the possibility to redefine how we live our lives.
I’d love to live out in the country but the work commute would kill me. A self-driving car would allow me to work/sleep/talk while it drives and I’m not hating my life in traffic. That’s the idea behind Cabin. They’re selling cheap-ish bus rides between LA and SF, but you sleep overnight in a comfy private cabin on the bus. Cheap ride, free hotel, wake up refreshed. Sounds nice to me.
Side note: I really liked this video about traffic congestion. It made a lot of sense to me.
